Wine Cup

The Wine Cup is very interesting to me. The scientific name is Callirhoe involucrata. It grows to be 1/2 -1  foot long.

The Wine Cup likes sandy soils and gravelly with full sun. The scientific family is Malvaceae. I like these facts because they are interesting. They are native to Texas and central to the United States. The flowers close each evening and remain permanently shut after pollination. The color is dark-purple red.
